Welcome to the National Hemp Association’s In Conversation Series where we highlight our business members and affiliates.
This installment NHA Executive Director, Erica Stark interviews Khalee Kreider, Marketing Manager Kreider Farms.
Cracking Open Hemp’s Potential
When talking about the building of the hemp industry you will often hear the ‘chicken or the egg’ analogy. Our Chair, Geoff Whaling is fond of saying it’s a ‘scrambled egg’ issue. But we’re not going to walk on eggshells expressing our enthusiasm for Chiques Creek Hemp Eggs by Kreider Farms! OK, silly puns aside, these eggs are a big deal.
Kreider Farms’ cage free birds are fed a special all-vegetarian diet with hemp seed meal which results in higher protein, nutrients and more omega-3 compared to standard eggs. And they have the science to prove it.
As many of you already know, hemp is not yet an approved animal feed. So, you may be wondering – how is it possible for these hemp eggs to be on grocery store shelves across Pennsylvania? In this interview we talk with Khalee Kreider about the process of submitting a self-determination of GRAS status as well as how they got involved in the hemp industry, their line of hemp teas and more!
Kreider Farms demonstrates what dedication, patience and investment can achieve and we are just beginning to scratch the surface of the benefits hemp can provide for both humans and animals.
